FAQ

These are the permission-related questions users ask most often.

Note

Permission prompts can look slightly different depending on your browser and operating system, but the purpose is the same.

Why does Lody ask for the GitHub "act on your behalf" permission?

Short answer: When you create a pull request through Lody, we use this permission so the PR is opened as you, not as the LodyAI bot.

We ask for it because we want Lody to fit into your existing repository workflow without polluting your history with bot-authored pull requests. That keeps authorship, notifications, and collaboration flow consistent with how your team already works on GitHub.

If you would rather not grant this permission, we plan to add a toggle in a future release.

Why does the web app ask for local device discovery permission the first time it starts?

Short answer: We use this permission to check whether your browser and the Lody CLI are running on the same device.

That check helps us optimize local workflows, including features like one-click jumps from a session to its workspace. If the browser and the CLI are not on the same device, Lody simply falls back to the standard flow.
